I still can’t believe those evil gnomes trashed my closet.

But they did and they weren’t about to clean it up for me, so I got down to business. First I grabbed everything from my closet I didn’t love or need and had an impromptu yard sale. Then I removed everything from my closet that didn’t belong (notice the big pile of framed art for which we have no wall). Then I used fancy black velvet hangers to give my dressing room a cutie boutique feel. And now The Scientist loves me again!

SO much better, right? And what do you think of my cutie little nightstand? I found him in the trash room in our old apartment building right before we moved out, so I brought him home and painted him to match my DIY chest of drawers in my bedroom. Tricky! He’s currently empty so I’m not sure I can justify keeping him though…

This clean-up project cost me less than $100 because I only bought hangers. All the other organizational tricks were accomplished using things I already had. For example, my boots stand up because I used a tricky wine bottle trick! And my purses and bags stand up because I used a tricky newspaper trick.

All you do is put wadded up newspaper (or anything similar) into a plastic bag and then use those to fill your handbags. Now your handbags will keep their pretty shape AND your closet will look like a department store display. BONUS AND MAGIC.

I had some extra IKEA boxes and bins lying around so I used those to contain my clutches and scarves. Now I can find exactly what I’m looking for when I’m in a rush to get out the door. Easy peasy!

Now that everything is tidy and organized I can focus on the fun part: Turning this boring closet into a dreamy dressing room!

Yay! It looks so good. I don’t think you should get rid of that adorable night stand - I’m sure you’ll find something to fit in it! We organized our walk-in this weekend too.

So here’s why I love this article: often life coaching is about making your life better in simple, practical ways. You’d be amazed how many people have come to me feeling frustrated with the state of their life and discover that their most important next step is to organize the closet!

Yes, so much of taking care of ourselves actually comes down to doing the little, practical things that ultimately make life so much better. So what you think? This blogger completely reinvented her closet for under 100 bucks? What’s one thing you can do to make your physical environment better?

Organizing your life is about so much more than just organizing your thoughts and having a plan for your life. Something as simple and fantastic as an organized closet can make a HUGE difference in the way you smoothly start off your days and view yourself :) And all this accomplished with a frugal budget of just 100 dollars! Way to go!!!!

Tell me what you think!
