{Before + After} A Very Girly Dressing Room

After much destruction, sanding, priming, painting, sweating, and crying (it wouldn’t be a true remodel without tears, you know), I FINALLY finished my dressing room. What used to be a boring, drab, walk-in closet with built-in shelving everywhere is now a legit room. And it’s very, very pink. But it had to be because my fur-baby was my inspiration.

Just to remind you, this is what my closet looked like before:

Not cute. And that $5 light fixture really had to go. I definitely spent 2 hours holding my new chandelier above my head with one arm and trying to attach the wires with the other, cursing at the world the entire time. (Do not try this at home.) I may or may not have imagined myself as a contestant on Survivor, standing on a post in the middle of a raging river, holding a log above my head. (I totally won immunity in my daydreams, by the way.) But eventually I managed to get everything installed and I was able to move on to the finishing touches.

So with black, white, and pink in mind, I morphed my boring closet into THIS:

Dressing Room AFTER

Now I don’t know about you but I really think that chandelier was worth the trouble.

To complete the look I added vintage-inspired doorknob pegs to hang my big necklaces on, a vintage Samsonite train case for the rest of my baubles, an antique brass tray, and some personal photos and various pretties.

On the other side of the room I added a vintage original oil painting I picked up on eBay, an old chair I had reupholstered in a fabulous floral suzani fabric, a black and white ikat rug, and my favorite Maggie made the custom polka dot drapes.

Across from the window I leaned a mirror from IKEA and added two more doorknobs so I could hang clothes while dressing.

Now this space is my little feminine sanctuary. Twinkie definitely approves!

This dressing room is wonderful! Good job for going for it with the hot pink walls. Your furry baby is so cute, I’m glad he approves. I love the fabric you reupholstered the chair in, so bright and cheerful. And the rug, I have an unusual love of ikat, so perfection. You MUST feel so good getting ready every morning with these surroundings.

Thank you so much! Yes, I LOVE this room and it’s so much fun to get ready in there! Ikat is one of my favorite things, too! And the chair fabric is too fabulous — it’s almost not right ;)

Thanks so much! It’s Benjamin Moore “Crushed Berries” and it’s a great choice of bright, dark pink for a room that gets a lot of natural daylight. This paint has cool undertones that balance out the yellow from the sun.

I am fully in LOVE with the fabric on that chair! Do you remember the brand or print name? The Apartment Therapy post suggested it came from fabric.com, but I can’t seem to find it! I would super-appreciate your help, but either way: love the blog!

Tell me what you think!
