A Happy 2nd Anniversary

I’ve been meaning to post this for three weeks now… But October 10 was my 2-year wedding anniversary. That’s right, folks. We got married on 10-10-10 — just like half the other couples on the planet did. But that didn’t make it feel any less special to us.

By the way, just so we’re on the same page, whenever I say/write/hear/read the word “anniversary” I sing the “It’s our anniversary” line from that Tony! Toni! Tone! song.

We got married in Seattle, where we were living when we met (blind date) and fell in love (also on our blind date), though we got engaged in Grand Central Station in NYC. Our Emmy-winning friends from Mindcastle did all our photography and cinematography — which is why it’s amazing.

The Scientist got the royal treatment from Valentine at the men only grooming salon, while I got prettied by Deity Skincare and Derby Salon. Natch, I took my fur-baby with me.

Once our heads were beautiful we headed back to The Maxwell Hotel to put on our fancy wedding clothes.

Our invitations and paper products were all done by a lovely Etsy artist and printed by her on 100% cotton paper. They were GORGEOUS and super inexpensive. (I would link back to her shop but it’s gone! SADZ!)

One of our favorite details was the way family photos were used. Each family member was seated at the large center table and we used a baby photo for each person as a place card. We used photos of ourselves at the age matching each table number for the guest tables, in addition to old books we’d collected during our engagement.

Rather than have a sign-in book we opted for old typewriters. Our guests had a lot of fun typing us little messages throughout the night!

Last but not least is Sam Day. He is an amazing artist and did a live oil painting of our reception while guests looked on. He stood in the corner all evening, painting and engaging with guests. He was SO fun to have around and our wedding wouldn’t have been the same without him! I can’t recommend him enough. (And yes, he travels!)

Our wedding was the first I ever planned and it’s what made me fall in love with planning special events. As you can see from our photos it was an amazing day! I’m one lucky lady.

Happy anniversary to my own personal scientist.

It was a pleasure to be a part of such a great day. I see a lot of weddings, and yours was among the classiest and most creative. My personal favorite: the typewriters.

Tell me what you think!
